Marie has been working as a campaigner at the RNIB.

Marie has a long history of campaigning having previously organised election campaigns for the Liberal Democrats in the South West. She has also worked on campaigns to protect the local Courts Service and to retain 24-hour Search and Rescue cover in North Devon.

Marie is also a former Teignbridge District Councillor where she was Portfolio Holder for Communities and Regulation where she undertook campaigns to protect local groups from budget cuts.

"I'm really looking forward the opportunity to represent Newton Abbot residents. At this time the constituency must have a strong voice as we face many issues and the impacts of conservative cuts and continued austerity"

Exeter's long awaited new railway station at Marsh Barton is running late.... in fact, so late it's years behind schedule with no sign of being built as costs sky rocket, says concerned local county councillor Alan Connett.

Just two years ago, Devon County Council announced "The station is due to be opened in 2016. A half hourly frequency is expected to serve the station from 2018 as part of a major timetable revision…"

Last night, instead of opposing the government, the Labour party clocked off early for Christmas and failed to back a Lib Dem Amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill.

Last night our effort to enshrine in law a vote on the final Brexit deal was defeated by the Conservatives after Labour failed to show up. The Lib Dem amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill, if it had been passed, would have seen the people have a final say on the deal Theresa May brought back from Brussels.

Today, I've have set out a potential timetable for a referendum on the Brexit deal to be held in December 2018, as an 'early Christmas present' for the millions of people who support a vote on the deal.

The timetable would allow people to choose whether to accept the deal or stay in the EU.

It comes ahead of a Commons' vote tonight on a Liberal Democrat amendment to the Withdrawal Bill that would secure a referendum on the deal.

The amendment calls on the government to set a date on which the referendum would be held and says the vote must give the public the choice to accept the final Brexit deal or remain in the EU.

We would campaign to remain in any referendum on the deal, as we believe no deal the government could negotiate will be better than the one we currently enjoy as a member of the EU.

This potential timeline to a public vote shows Brexit is not a done deal - it can be stopped, but only with the approval of the British public.

Support is growing for a public vote on whatever botched Brexit deal the Conservatives manage to get from the EU.

It's time the Conservatives - and the Labour leadership - listened.

Ultimately, the Liberal Democrats don't believe the government can negotiate any deal which is better than the one we currently have as a member of the EU.

That is why we will campaign to remain in the EU in any future referendum.

Liberal Democrat Proposed Timetable for Referendum on the Deal

April 2018: Royal Assent given to the EU Withdrawal Bill

April 2018: Government introduces a Referendum on the Deal Bill, in line with the stipulations set out in the amendment:

May 2018: Royal Assent given to Referendum on the Deal Bill

September 2018: 12 week referendum campaign begins, with vote scheduled for early December. (European Parliament will also have a vote in this time and European Council must approve the deal)

December 2018: Referendum concluded, and Parliamentary vote held. In the case of a vote to remain in the EU, Article 50 would be withdrawn (Lord Kerr, author of Article 50 has stated this is possible).

A lot has changed since 2014 - the biggest part of which is the fact that we now have around 100,000 members.

This is amazing, and it is radically changing us as a party but also challenging us to do things differently.

One challenge is that the cost of producing AdLib has escalated to the equivalent of the entire staffing budget for the Party's Membership Department.

Tomorrow evening (Wednesday 20th), MPs will be voting on amendment 120 to the EU Withdrawal Bill - an amendment that would guarantee you the final say on Brexit, with a chance to remain if you preferred.

But there's one person who can decide if the amendment passes or fails tomorrow: Jeremy Corbyn.

If he whips his MPs to back it, we will almost certainly pass it. If he whips his MPs to vote against, the amendment will fail.

A merger between South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council was scuppered after WDBC suddenly pulled out at the last minute, despite support from the Tory-led South Hams Council.

Even though 37 out of 45 parish and town councils said "No" to the merger, Conservative councillors on SHDC wanted to push through the merger with its cash-strapped counterpart.
