The Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Newton Abbot

On May 6th 2017 the Newton Abbot lib Dem party unanimously approved our candidate for Westminster to represent the Newton Abbot constituency.

Marie Chadwick (was Jenkins)

Marie Chadwick is the Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for the Newton Abbot Constituency.

Marie has been working as a campaigner at the RNIB.

Marie has a long history of campaigning having previously organised election campaigns for the Liberal Democrats in the South West. She has also worked on campaigns to protect the local Courts Service and to retain 24-hour Search and Rescue cover in North Devon.

Marie is also a former Teignbridge District Councillor where she was Portfolio Holder for Communities and Regulation where she undertook campaigns to protect local groups from budget cuts.

"I'm really looking forward the opportunity to represent Newton Abbot residents. At this time the constituency must have a strong voice as we face many issues and the impacts of conservative cuts and continued austerity"

  Liberal Democrat Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Davey has opened the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm.

  The wind farm is located 20km of the Barrow-in-Furness coastline in North West England.

  West of Duddon Sands has 108 wind turbines and will be able to generate 389 MW of electricity, or put simply, enough to power more than 250,000 homes.

  Dawlish sea wall was battered by waves and storms in the spring of 2014, so much so that part of it was washed away completely, leaving the rail lines dangling above the beach. Trains could go no further south west than Exeter for many months, affecting the local economy and disrupting travellers and commuters.
